OH my gosh, am I in love with this orange honey body wash! It’s heavenly!! My friend and sponsor, Tracey Campbell had a make and take for the holidays and one of the items on the menu was this orange honey body wash. Let me tell you why this is such a hot commodity. I’m all for the natural homemade goodies and I use TONS of them. In the soap department I have many ‘bar’ and ‘foaming’ choices, but I felt limited on choices for a nice thick body wash. This one is making me so happy. 🙂  I’m using it on my face too! And when a little bit of this runs in my mouth…hee hee–DELIGHT!!
This recipe smells SO amazing. I’m enjoying my little uplifting citrus-honey fix quite a bit more than I’ve ever liked ‘body wash’, and I plan to experiment with other essential oils, too. Hubba hubba…
People I know are just beginning to learn about the dangers of sulfates that are in our everyday products and why they cause us harm. If you’re not sure why SLS are harmful, please check out this very complete article by Dr. Mercola. Personally, I think it’s downright disgusting that SLS has been banned in other countries around the world, but the U.S. continues to unnecessarily pump this stuff into us, through thousands of personal products like body wash.
We thoroughly enjoyed making this product with a few simple ingredients we’re much more familiar with and included affiliate links so you can DIY better bodywash, too. We used Young Living Essential Oil, all natural, raw, organic honey (the thicker, the better!) Dr. Bronner’s Castile Soap, vitamin E oil and jojoba oil. (available in the Anointed By Abba Store)  The body wash mixture will separate, but there’s no problem with that. If you want, just turn your bottle upside down and right side up again to mix.
I was afraid I would feel all sticky with the honey base, but I didn’t. I felt clean and soft. I heard there are benefits to honey in our skincare so I looked up some of these benefits and I was really surprised! If you’re not already aware of the benefits, check out this excerpt from WebMd (or click the link for the full article):
So, yeah, I’ll take some of that!! I decided to put my body wash in a glass container because I know that citrus essential oils are powerful and will eventually break down plastics and petrochemicals. (Click here to see some of that in action!) There are sooo many cute designs to choose from, like this artist’s design on a vinegar & oil bottle. 🙂 I like that part more than a storebought body wash, too!! Personality. It even sounds like a fun project to take on…;-) Another option is this glass soap dispenser that has over 300 5 star reviews. For those worried about glass + kids + shower, I get it! You may want to consider using a decorative duct tape to completely cover the bottom and entire wide portion the glass bottle. Duct tape is AMAZING and makes your glass bottles SHATTERPROOF! Remember that!
So that’s it. What are you waiting for?!? Those old Clairol Herbal Essence commercials ain’t got nothin’ on the real thing…
